Alex Maryles, Ph.D.

Hi, my name is Alex Maryles and I am a licensed clinical psychologist. I graduated with a doctoral degree (Psy.D.) in Combined Clinical Child-School Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology in New York. I have experience in working with children, adolescents, and adults of all ages.

I find that just the act of talking about problems can often help people find ways to solve them or at least to bear them. I try and meet my clients where they are and emphasize developing a relationship. This enables us to work in partnership to gain insight into aspects of experience that may be difficult to talk and think about. As the relationship deepens, I help clients to understand themselves in new ways, and to become more mindful of a greater range of their thoughts, feelings, perceptions, and experiences.

With both children and teenagers, I include parallel work with parents to support and improve communication and understanding, assisting them in altering maladaptive patterns that improve the quality of life for the individual and the family system.
